What's it gonna be? Here's a little video from the last show at Club Good Hurt:

the WIRE

We're prepping to record; the plan right now is to head out to our old pal Jamie's place in Topanga Canyon (with a view of the Pacific, no less) , set up, and see what happens. It's a little tough to figure out the right approach to the session, because of our spare style, which means that the ambient elements in the recording -- leakage, mic'ing, pre-amps, etc., all play a critical role. It's the lack of density; each individual sound has got to be full and rich and dynamic, so the room effectively becomes another instrument, as critical as the tuning of the drums or the amps.

Owner Jamie is both an incredibly talented guy and happens to have a deep history with us -- he and Rob were in a Mod band back in high school, did their first recordings together, and had many a dumb teen exploit. Just ask the University of California at Santa Barbara. But DON'T ask Phil Santiago. Seriously.
